What is Pay Per Click advertising?

What is PPC, pay-per-click advertising? Well, the kind of words kind of says it themselves you’re going to pay when somebody clicks on your ad. Now the areas of pay-per-click and previously mentioned. We spoke about SEM sometimes they get a little bit mixed up and they kind of overlap each other. But as a general rule when we’re talking about you know PPC pay-per-click. We’re talking about pay-per-click anywhere as opposed to one search engine marketing we’re specifically targeting a search engine.

So, on pay-per-click that could be Facebook. You know Facebook is not a search engine. So, you can do some paid ads on Facebook. Now Facebook has you know all types of ads. It has pay-per-click type ads and it also has you know just exposure type ads of my impressions. It has both of those which is a different subject. So, YouTube you can do pay per click on YouTube which is kind of a Google property as well.

This is an interesting concept as far as marketing because in the past and the old conventional advertising you did you know radio ad. And you just paid for it whether people called you or didn’t call you. You know you really had no relationship with the results that you were going to get. Same thing with a TV ad you know your place that TV ad and regardless if people called you or you’ve got any results. You’re gonna pay billboards all that.

So, the new strategy you know that Google came out with it says well. You’re gonna pay only if it’s effective to the point where people are actually clicking on the ad. Of course, after that you know it’s for you to respond and have a good product.  And you know close the sale or close the deal or convert if it’s on a website. So, that was very attractive to marketers, to sellers, to business people. That to say hey you know that ad can run a thousand impression but if nobody clicks on it then I don’t pay. So, I’m not sure if Google pioneered that but that’s kind of a concept with the pay-per-click advertising.

So different areas where you can do that. Of course, you’re gonna see these all over the internet they actually follow you around. You’ll find sometimes if you do a search these ads, follow you all over the place trying to get you too. Eventually, click and get to the sales page. Facebook is one. Probably one. Well, not the biggest one. I would say YouTube probably one of the biggest as far as ads. You see if you’re watching a YouTube video you’re gonna get pounded either with a pre-roll ad or a pop-up in the video. And it’s just all over the place,

So, this is one way to get in front of customers. These things work better for a couple things. One is an impulse type item where the person is not searching. The person is just watching a video. And you show them something enticing and they just click on it because of impulse. And then also the other area that this is very effective is when you have a targeted customer. So, if you have a customer that just bought a house and you can target that through certain channels.

Then you might want to push them an ad for installing an alarm. Which is what a lot of the alarm companies do. They track people buying houses. And if you bought a house. There are certain services that you’re going to be adding or starting up or implementing in a new house. So, that’s one way to target these types at these types of ads.

And it’s very effective. Generally, they cost a lot per click but it’s so targeted that it becomes worth the investment. The return on investment usually outpaces just a general spam type and all over the place with pretty much all the properties now whether it be. And against the two big properties are going to be Facebook and YouTube. You could narrow down all these demographic profiles whether it’s male-female and then also those types of preferences. People that just got married, people that just got engaged, people in a demographic area of people that are renting people that owned homes. All these kinds of things and you can get right in front of them with your product. And only pay if they click on your ad.
